O'Donell, Shalloo, Pirongs et al. Set for STAND TALL

Casting is now complete for the London premiere of Stand Tall - A Rock Musical, a contemporary rock/pop musical by Lee Wyatt-Buchan, Aldie Chalmers & Sandy Chalmers.

Stand Tall - A Rock Musical is to open for a five-week season at the Landor?Theatre from Wednesday October 12 - Saturday November 12. Press night is Monday October 17 at 7.30pm.

Stand Tall - A Rock Musical is based on the biblical tale of David and Goliath but re-told in a current day-to-day setting. Gone is the sling and David now has an electric guitar. The 17 songs range from rock to hip-hop and blues.

Ryan O'Donnell (David) played the lead role of Jimmy Cooper in the UK?premiere of Pete Townsend's rock musical, Quadrophenia. His other work includes Romeo and Juliet at the RSC and the UK?tour of Tracy Beaker The Musical.

Jack Shalloo (Goliath) recently starred as Hamlet in Hamlet the Musical at the Royal & Derngate and Richmond theatres. He was Pete in new British musical Departure Lounge at Waterloo East Theatre, which was nominated for Best Musical at the 'Whatsonstage' awards. He was Jackie in the original cast of Whistle Down The Wind (Aldwych) and Spider in Oliver (London Palladium).

Martin Pirongs (King Saul) appeared in Talking in Bed (Theatre 503), Zoo (Union Theatre) Weapons of Happiness (Finborough) and A?Streetcar Named Desire?(Mercury Theatre, Colchester).

Natasha J Barnes (Mia) was in the West End musicals Spring Awakening and Lend Me a?Tenor.

Keisha Amponsa Banson (Black Sheep) recently played Urleen in the UK tour of Footloose. She is a member of the West End?Gospel Choir.

An early version of Stand Tall - A Rock Musical was written specifically for schools to help tackle the issue of bullying.

The production is directed by Simon Greiff. His previous directing credits include the premiere of "The Pork Crunch" (Pleasance), "Spring Awakening" (Wilde Theatre), the British premiere of "Striking 12" (Waterloo East), "Home: The Scott Alan Song Cycle" workshop (Her Majesty's) which he also co-created. He was the resident director on the No1 tour of "We Will Rock You". He is currently creating "Stories From The Lighthouse" with the award-winning British writer Laurence Mark Wythe, whose musical "Tomorrow Morning" was produced at the Landor in 2010.
