Belgrade Gets Crafty With Earlsdon Women's Institute For Relaxed Panto Performance Image

The Belgrade Theatre has teamed up with Earlsdon Women's Institute and the West Midlands Federation of Women's Institutes to create a number of "twiddle muffs", hand muffs with attachments to fiddle with, for their first ever relaxed pantomime performance.

A relaxed performance is specifically designed to be an open and welcoming environment for those audience members who may enjoy, or benefit from, a more relaxed performance style. This includes those with Autism Spectrum Conditions, sensory and communication disorders, learning disabilities, dementia, or other conditions. These shows are for everyone, including families with small children.

Twiddle muffs are soft therapeutic aids for those with autism, sensory disabilities or dementia. Often knitted, with multiple sensory stimulating attachments such as bobbles or buttons to fiddle with, they can help with restless hands and minimise anxiety. Earlsdon WI have been hard at work knitting the Belgrade a number of these comforting sensory aids, which will be distributed to attendees of the relaxed performance of Cinderella at 10.30am on Wednesday 10 January.

This year's Christmas show has already proved to be a festive smash with audiences and critics alike, and the Belgrade are proud to be able to offer a relaxed performance of their celebrated pantomime, so that as many people as possible can join Cinderella for the Royal Ball.

This magical rags to riches tale will be brought to life with spectacular sets, lavish costumes and sing-along-songs in a performance that will be specifically tailored to meet the needs of those with autism and sensory disabilities. There may be relevant changes to light and sound effects, additional staff members will be on hand to assist and there will be a chill out zone those who would benefit. Sensory toys, including hand-knitted twiddle muffs will also be provided for the duration of the show.

Cinderella will run on the Main Stage at the Belgrade Theatre from Weds 22 Nov 2017 - Sat 10 Jan 2018, with the relaxed performance of the show at 10.30am on Wednesday 10 January.

Tickets are available now priced from £16.75 for adults, £11.75 for children and £47 for families. Book now by calling the Belgrade's Box Office team on 024 7655 3055 or visit www.belgrade.co.uk where tickets are even cheaper.
