Scott Alan's showcases have become a bit of a regular treat in the West End. Next month, there'll be the chance for some of musical theatre's favourite leading ladies to shine as Simon Greiff brings Divas Sing Scott Alan to the Arts Theatre.

Caissie Levy is one of those headlining Divas, and a long-time pal and collaborator of Alan's. "We met originally when I was doing Hair on Broadway," she recalls. "We had a lot of mutual friends, so we'd both heard about each other, and when we finally met we formed a fast friendship."

Alan seems to be the kind of writer who has particular vocalists in mind when he's writing - that must be a huge honour for a singer? "Yes, of course!" she says, adding that when they met, they just clicked: "He's that kind of guy - so warm and lovely."

So what kind of song does Levy like Alan writing for her? She laughs. "I like to sing all sorts! I suppose I'm best known for the big power ballads, but I like singing high belty stuff too. What's lovely about Scott's work, though, is that it's emotional and it always goes somewhere. As a singer, you get to use all the colours of your voice - so I trust him! He can write what he likes!"

Levy is, of course, starring as Molly in Ghost at the Piccadilly Theatre, following its try-out in Manchester and her previous run at the Gielgud in Hair. So while her fellow Diva Natalie Weiss is heading over especially for the concert, Levy is already firmly part of the West End scene and an adopted Londoner. "It's so cool to be working in the West End - you dream of working on Broadway and in London and I've done both of those now," she says. "But yes - London feels like home now."

So does that mean we'll be keeping hold of her for a bit longer yet? She laughs again. "I hope so!"

Divas Sing Scott Alan is at the Arts Theatre on Sunday November 13 at 4pm and 7.30pm.
