The Keegan Theatre Opens ALL MY SONS Tonight, 11/3

By:

The Keegan Theatre presents Arthur Miller's Tony Award-winning play All My Sons, opening tonight, November 3, 2012 at the Church Street Theater in Washington, DC.

An American masterpiece, All My Sons examines the relationships between fathers and sons, the price men pay for the American Dream, the moral and emotional scars of war, and human struggle for moral and legal conscience. A family drama that established Arthur Miller as a leading voice in the American theater, All My Sons takes the audience to a startling and heartbreaking conclusion.

Joe Keller and Steve Deever were partners in a machine shop during World War II that turned out defective airplane parts, causing the deaths of many men. Deever was sent to prison, while Keller escaped punishment and went on to enjoy both freedom and financial success. Years later, Joe’s surviving son Chris embarks on a love affair with Steve’s daughter, Ann, setting off a string of encounters and admissions that will change these two families forever.

“We have assembled a cast that makes Miller’s post-World War II family come to life in an incredibly moving way that I believe audiences will love,” said Director Susan Marie Rhea. “I am tremendously fond of Miller – both acting in his plays and having the great honor of directing them. All My Sons has been on my wish list for years – so this is an incredibly rewarding moment in time for me, to finally get to direct this beautiful and devastating script.”

All My Sons won the Drama Critics’ Award for Best New Play in 1947. In his own words, describing an audience’s reaction, Miller concluded, “The audience sat in silence before the unwinding of All My Sons and gasped when they should have…a mass of strangers has been publicly transfixed.”

Directed by Keegan’s Associate Artistic Director Susan Marie Rhea – who directed last season’s scorching production of Miller’s The Crucible, All My Sons features an accomplished cast that includes Kevin Adams, Sheri S. Herren, Peter Finnegan, Kevin Hasser, Brad Smith, Brianna Letourneau, Cate Brewer, Michael Innocenti, and Allison Corke. All My Sons will introduce Keegan audiences to three young actors making their professional debuts sharing the role of Bert: Calder Rambow-Levalley, Sean Baldwin, and Billy Baldwin.

All My Sons runs through December 1, 2012. The press opening is Monday, November 5 at 8:00pm. The Keegan Theatre is in its 16th season and is the resident company at Church Street Theater in Dupont Circle.
