The Welders-Washington's only playwrights' collective devoted exclusively to developing and producing new plays-will host its annual fundraiser, The Joint-- on Saturday, April 21 at the Molly Smith Study at Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater.

Join us for a night of creation inside the birthplace of American regional theatre -- no skills required! Each member of the Welders will lead an art-making activity that sheds light into our creative process, from polaroid-tableau to storytelling with stickers! The evening will be a fun opportunity for theater fans to engage in a night of making new stories, images and patterns ... together.

"The Welders are all about new models for making art -- together," said current Lead Producing Playwright Brett Abelman. "Our supporters help us do that. So it seems just right to make art together! And we're thrilled to feature as our auctioneer Julie Garner, Helen Hayes-nominated for her role in our most recent production Deb Sivigny's Hello, My Name Is..."

Don't miss this spectacular evening of creativity and celebration, complete with tasty food, dessert, and complementary punch thanks to a sponsorship from Drink Company, home to the 2017 Spirited Award winning "Best American Cocktail Bar" Columbia Room. The evening will include both a live and silent auction, as well as VIP perks. Tickets and more information are available at https://joint2018.bpt.me

VIP Tickets: $100

The Welders is a DC-based playwrights' collective whose mission is to establish an evolving, alternative platform for play development and production. The intent of that platform is to inspire and encourage members to take risks and make bold leaps in exploring the craft of playwriting; produce one performance of work created by each member playwright over the course of three years; create significant, meaningful, direct engagement between artists and members of the community; and support future generations of DC-area playwrights. www.thewelders.org
