The iconic modern dance troupe Martha Graham Dance Company brings the revolutionary works of its founder to the 386-seat Alden Theatre at 8 p.m. on Friday, April 22. Tickets are $40, $35 for McLean tax district residents. The theatre is located at 1234 Ingleside Avenue.

The Martha Graham Dance Company (MGDC) has been a leader in the development of contemporary dance since its founding in 1926. MGDC will perform Essential Graham at the Alden in April, a sort of "greatest hits" collection that serves to both quench the thirst of Martha Graham aficionados and whet the appetites of modern dance novices. The intimate Alden Theatre is an ideal setting for Graham's visceral choreography.

In addition to the April 22 performance by the company, the Alden will host "Martha Graham: The Pioneer" at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 9. This panel discussion of Graham and her influence on American art will be conducted by choreographers and dancers Dan Joyce and Dana MacLeod. The event is free and open to the public.

Tickets for Essential Graham go on sale on March 2. For more information, call the Alden Theatre Box Office at 703-790-9223, TTY: 711, or visit www.aldentheatre.org
