Love, Regret, And Horror Come to Capital Fringe With GHOSTS

How far would you go to reunite with a deceased loved one? That's the central question posed by "Ghosts", an all-new horror drama written by Elford Alley and directed by Springfield native and George Mason alum Kathleen Barth for the Capital Fringe Festival 2018. "Ghosts" follows Levi (Evan Crump) as he attempts to communicate with the paranormal using a mysterious device. Of course, all is not as it seems as Levi discovers the device's hidden secrets with ramifications that reveal as much about himself as his family's past.

"Ghosts" originally premiered as a one-act play at the Little Theatre of Alexandria to buzzworthy reviews and sold-out shows in October 2017. The expanded production will feature a cast of local veterans and newcomers to the greater D.C. theater scene.

To learn more about this show, visit the official "Ghosts" Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/GhostsFringe/). Discover additional details about our play, including cast info, behind-the-scenes photos, the rehearsal process, ticket information, RSVP information for the show itself, and fun, interactive posts including original artwork by local Northern Virginia-area artists. Earlier this summer, the "Ghosts" team launched its official Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign-featuring a video of director Kathleen Barth and producer Charlotte Corneliussen discussing their roles and motivations behind their work on this production (https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/ghosts-at-capital-fringe-festival-horror-drama#/)

Kathleen Barth is a director active in the D.C. area. As a director, she feels passionate about staging new works and extending opportunities to women artists. Kathleen directed the original one-act version of Ghosts at the Little Theatre of Alexandria's "Creepshow", hosted by the NextGen committee, and now she is delighted to direct the new full-length version of Ghosts that will premier this summer. Her previous credits include CREDITS

Elford Alley is a playwright and novelist from Texas. He's always believed in the power of a good ghost story and with Ghosts, he wanted to explore loss, and how we cope with our loved ones and past relationships becoming twisted in their own ghost stories. He's published several novels and has written for Huffington Post, Cracked and DoomRocket.

Charlotte Corneliusen is a creative producer, screenwriter, casting director and production designer who has lived in the DC area since 2009. She began her career in film in 1998 and has worked on big-budget documentaries, independent films and television series in Canada and Germany. She started producing theatre in 2017 and co-produced the one-act version of Ghosts at Little Theatre of Alexandria, last fall.

Evan Crump (Levi) has performed locally with the Kennedy Center, First Stage, Avant Bard, NextStop and the American Century Theater, among others. He is the founding Artistic Director of Unstrung Harpist Productions, which won Best Drama at the Capital Fringe Festival for his original play Genesis. When not fumbling about onstage, he is pursuing a doctorate in education at George Washington University and planning his impending wedding to his lovely fiancee. Evan is thrilled to be working on Ghosts because, while we may not see the specters of our loved ones roaming our homes late at night, the indelible marks they leave on our lives are every bit as real, and this play genuinely explores that lingering connection.

Marsha Rehns (Lorene) is an actor and writer in Washington and New York. She is also a docent at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History.

Bri Boldon (Abby) is an actress making her Fringe debut. Her credits include performing in Rock of Ages at Workhouse Arts Center, acting at Imagination Stage and on the Netflix series House of Cards.

Klenn Harrigan (Robert) is a DC resident having performed in sketch, improv, as well as theatre all around the city.

Jillian Blair (The Wraith) is a recent graduate of the CAP21 Musical Theatre BFA Program in NYC. She is new to the DMV area and is so excited to become part of this area's theatre and film community. Jillian is so happy that such an amazing play is her first production in DC and that she gets to explore such a complex and interesting character.

Jerry Gideon (Wal) is a long-time character actor born in Los Angeles with numerous credits on stage and in front of the camera. This is his first venture into the DC Fringe scene.

Founded in 2006, the annual Capital Fringe Festival is held each July and serves as a "celebration of cultural democracy and art for everyone". Capital Fringe aims to challenge perceptions and shake up the hierarchy, to be brave and unafraid and to serve as a launching pad for unseasoned to existing theatre artists.
