Firehouse Theatre's 2010 Festival of New American Plays Postpones 1/30 Events

The Firehouse Theatre regrets that the Saturday, Jan. 30 event in its 2010 Festival of New American Plays is being postponed due to inclement weather. However, your safety and that of our performers and crew is of the utmost importance.

The Firehouse Theatre of Richmond, VA presents its eighth annual Festival of New American Plays,  beginning tonight, 1/28, and has announced other upcoming events for the months of February and March.

You Be the Judge: The Firehouse Theatre's 2010 Festival of New American Plays Starts Tonight

You be the judge! The Firehouse Theatre Project's eighth annual Festival of New American Plays starts tonight and runs through Sunday - and the audience will decide the winner.

More than 200 quality scripts were submitted in this year's national competition. Staged readings of "American Pastime" by Mike Folie of Congers, N.Y., will be held on Thursday, Jan. 28, and Saturday, Jan. 30, while readings of "The Jag" by Gino DiIorio of New York City will be held on Friday, Jan. 29, and Sunday, Jan. 31.

All shows start at 7:30 p.m. and will be followed with a discussion including the audience, actors, director and playwright. Audience members who attended at least one performance of both plays will decide the winner following the Sunday performance.

The 2009-10 Season Continues Feb. 25-March 20 with Crumble (Lay Me Down, Justin Timberlake)

The Firehouse Theatre continues its spectacular 2009-10 season with Sheila Callaghan's "Crumble (Lay Me Down, Justin Timberlake)" from Feb. 25 through March 20.

Blurring the lines between Mother and those needing mothering, Crumble tells the story of eleven-year old Janice, whose father has recently died, and her devastated mom, who trusts in superior baking skills as the key to healing. While her mother fires up the oven and dreams of Harrison Ford, Janice dreams of Justin Timberlake and compiles a very strange, very explosive Christmas-wish list. Toss a crumbling, mercurial apartment into the mix, and the road to redemption is a twisted one, indeed.

Tickets are $25 for adults, $22 for seniors 65 and older, and $10 for students and and RAPT members with ID. This play is a part of the Acts of Faith Festival.
