Baltimore Natives Bring Off-Broadway Show to D.C. Black Theatre Festival

By:

On Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., Baltimore natives James and MichEle Woodson will showcase their hit Off-Broadway stage play "Love's Gonna Get You" at the Arc Theatre in Washington, D.C. The show is a part of the D.C. Black Theatre Festival, a week-long festival of over 150 theatrical performances celebrating the stories of people of African descent.

Love's Gonna Get You!" is an inspirational stage play based on the true story of six singles and their search for true love. When soulmates Nate and Jasmine meet, fall in love, and get engaged all within two short months, their best friends - Nikki, Jessie, Pablo, and Pete - try to convince them that they're moving too fast. But when Nate and Jasmine ignore their advice and move forward with their wedding plans, issues arise and their friends are forced to come to terms with their own relationship failures. Will their friends' insecurities and misconceptions about love ultimately bring the new couple down? Or will Nikki, Jessie, Pablo, and Pete gain a newfound hope in the power of love?

James and MichEle Woodson are a husband-and-wife writing and producing team originally from Baltimore, MD. They now reside in New Brunswick, NJ. Michele is an actress who has performed in a number of theatrical productions including "Freefall" directed by Vondell Richmond, "Church Folk, God Folk," written by directed by Melissa Huggins-Muhammad, and "Best Kept Secrets" by Robin Baker. James is a former talent manager and current law student at Rutgers University in Newark, New Jersey. He also serves as CEO and President of J'Nointed Entertainment, a talent management and entertainment Production Company.
