Sandglass Theatre Presents Larry Bramble Reading 'A Christmas Memory' 12/6

Sandglass Theater's month long storytellers series, "Passages," finishes up this Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock. Larry Bramble's reading of Truman Capote's classic story "A Christmas Memory" will be a delightful passage into the holiday season.

"A Christmas Memory" is Capote's memoir of his childhood in rural Alabama, living with his distant relatives. Initially appearing in Mademoiselle magazine in December, 1956, this memorable story was reprinted in The Selected Writings of Truman Capote in 1963, but it was the 1966 edition that established the story's enduring popularity. The story of a seven-year-old boy and his aging cousin's holiday traditions was made into an Emmy Award-winning television movie starring Geraldine Page in 1968.

Larry K. Bramble began performing at the age of 12 as a boy soprano in the school Christmas pageant. Thus began his lifelong love affair with the theatre. He went on to perform at the St. Louis Muni Opera, where he spent two summers in the stock chorus, working with such notables as Donald O'Conner, Eddie Albert, Sandy Duncan, and Betty White. Larry went on to work in dinner theatres across the country, playing diverse roles such as Capt. Von Trapp in The Sound of Music to Vinnie in The Odd Couple with Tom Poston. In New York he was cast in Forge of Freedom, a new musical written for the Nation's bicentennial and performed at Ford's Theatre in Washington D.C. during the summer of 1976. In Las Vegas, Larry was seen as the Sultan at Caesars Magical Empire at Caesars Palace, where he performed nightly for over a year. He also sang Italian street songs on the canal of the Venetian Hotel as a Gondolier. In Vermont he has been seen as Colonel Fairfax in Yeoman of the Guard at Main Street Arts, Sciarrone in Tosca at the Raylynmor Opera in Keene, NH, The 10 Minute Play Festival at Actors Theatre Playhouse (ATP), as Andrew Makepeace Ladd III in Love Letters at the Latchis 4 Theatre and as Bardolph in Lettice and Lovage at ATP. He recently directed The Tale of the Allergist's Wife by Charles Busch in Putney and A Perfect Ganesh by Terrance McNally for ATP and The Receptionist by Adam Bock at Latchis 4 in Brattleboro. He is currently directing the opera "Amahl and the Night Visitors" to be presented December 18 and 19 at the Jamiaca Town Hall.
