Paola Lazaro's THERE'S ALWAYS THE HUDSON Rounds Out Reading Series at Dorset Theatre Festival

Dorset Theatre Festival incubates new works for the American stage through its New Play Reading series, which continues with Paola Lázaro, playwright of Tell Hector I Miss Him and Atlantic Theater Company's 2016/2017 Tow Playwright-in-Residence. A public reading of Lázaro's newest work, entitled There's Always the Hudson, will take place on Tuesday, August 15 at 7 pm.

The reading will be held in the Dorset Playhouse, located at 104 Cheney Rd, Dorset, VT. General admission tickets start at $20 and may be purchased online at dorsettheatrefestival.org or by calling the box office at (802) 867-2223 ext. 2.

"Paola's a multitalented theatre artist. She first came to Dorset Theatre Festival as an actor in Martyna Majork's 2015 New Play Reading, and we're thrilled to welcome Paola back for a New Play Reading of her own. There's Always the Hudson was part of LAByrinth Theater Company's 2016 Up Next Series, and we're excited to see the next iteration of this work come to life," says Artistic Director Dina Janis.

Lázaro will spend three days in residence at Dorset Theatre Festival developing There's Always the Hudson. She will be joined by actors Eden Marryshow (Film: The Normal Heart, Bruce!!!), Emma Ramos (Scenes from a Marriage at New York Theatre Workshop), and Neil Tyrone Pritchard (Film: Falling South, Evelyn's Song), who will present her play with her on August 15.

"I'm looking forward to continuing the development and the journey of this play in such a beautiful and welcoming environment," says Playwright Paola Lázaro.

Paola Lázaro is a playwright and actress born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She holds a BFA in Dramatic Writing from SUNY Purchase College and an MFA in Playwriting from Columbia University. Paola is Atlantic Theater Company's 2016/2017 Tow Playwright-in-Residence, supported by The Tow Foundation. She was a member of The Public Theater's 2015 Emerging Writers Group and was selected as Playwright-in-Residence for the 2016 Sundance Theatre Lab in Morocco. Some of her plays include Tell Hector I Miss Him, Contigo and There's Always the Hudson, which was selected as part of LAByrinth Theater Company's Up Next Series. Paola is the recipient of the Arts Entertainment Scholarship Award (2011) from the National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts. In 2015, she was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Featured Actress in a Play for her role in TO THE BONE at the Cherry Lane Theatre.
