Northern Stage's THE HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES to Showcase Three Actors in Sixteen Roles This Winter

The Hound of the Baskervilles, written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and adapted by Steven Canny and John Nicholson, runs live on stage at the brand new Barrette Center for the Arts in White River Junction, VT, February 24 through March 12. Three actors play 16 characters in this adventure comedy. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's cherished novel follows an aristocratic British family who are terrorized, generation upon generation, by a spectral hound intent on killing all the male heirs. The great detective Sherlock Holmes sends his trusted sidekick Watson to the eerie countryside to investigate, while he observes in disguise. When asked why she chose this show for the Northern Stage season Artistic Director Carol Dunne commented "We at Northern Stage feel that, perhaps, in February in Vermont, our audiences need a good laugh! Huge belly laughs are guaranteed in this hysterical send-up in the tradition of The 39 Steps, and a mystery is solved to boot."

This production features four Northern Stage alums: Thom Miller, who just wowed audiences as Brandon at Northern Stage in the critically acclaimed world premiere production Mad Love. Miller has also been seen at Northern Stage in Boeing Boeing, I Hate Hamlet, Deathtrap, Dancing at Lughnasa, and Moon Over Buffalo, in addition to numerous Off-Broadway and regional theaters, including Studio Theatre and the Denver Center. Bill Kux was last seen at northern Stage in Romeo and Juliet and has a number of Broadway credits to his name, including Gore Vidal's The Best Man, The Trip to Bountiful, and Ain't Broadway Grand. Kux has also appeared Off-Broadway in Incident at Vichy for Signature Theatre, Loose Ends for Second Stage, The Philanthropist and Absent Friends for Manhattan Theatre Club, and the original company ofBaby With The Bathwater for Playwright's Horizons. Rounding out the cast is Jacob Tischler, recently seen in Northern Stage's Mary Poppins this season and White Christmas in 2013. Director Peter Hackett is The Avalon Foundation Professor in the Humanities and Professor of Theater at Dartmouth College where he served as Chair of the Department from 2005-2011. From 1994-2004 he was the Artistic Director of the Tony award-winning Cleveland Play House where he instituted several innovative artistic programs including the Associate Artists Program, the Next Stage Festival of New Plays, and the Professional Actor Training Program in partnership with Case Western Reserve University. His previous directing credits at Northern Stage include A Christmas Carol in 2014 and the world premiere of Orwell in Americain 2015.

Performances are Tuesdays through Sundays; sponsored by Designer Gold, Ledyard National Bank, The Norwich Inn and White Mountains Insurance. A companion event Athena Conversation will be held in the Byrne Theater at the Barrette Center for the Arts on Sunday, February 28 from 3:30 - 4:30 PM. This conversation is free and open to the public.

Discounted tickets are available for preview performances February 24-26. $15 Anytime Student tickets are available for any performance, regular adult ticket prices range from $30-$55. A complimentary post-show reception with the cast follows the opening night performance on Saturday, February 27th, and an optional post-show conversation with the cast and crew follows the performance on Saturday, March 5.
