Northern Stage Presents OUR TOWN at Barrette Center for the Arts, Now thru 10/31

Our Town by Thornton Wilder runs live on stage at the brand new Barrette Center for the Arts in White River Junction, VT, tonight, October 7, through October 31. For tickets and information, call 802-296-7000 or visit www.northernstage.org. Tickets start at $15.

This moving examination of everyday life focuses on a young couple that fall in love, marry, and live out their lives in a small New England town. Artistic Director Carol Dunne, who directs, is creating a fresh and contemporary staging of the classic. She says of the project: "It is an incredible privilege to re-examine and re-imagine this American classic as we open the doors to the beautiful Barrette Center for the Arts. We have an incredible company of 26 actors and musicians coming together to retell this story in a way that will change us all. Our production allows for surprise, is filled with music, and will feel absolutely appropriate to the 21st century. It is really an Our Town for our town!"

This production features Northern Stage alum Sutton Crawford as Emily Webb (previously seen at Northern Stage in Amadeus, The Rainmaker, Romeo & Juliet, and Les Liasions Dangereuse) and Casey Predovic as George Gibbs. Predovic is making his Northern Stage debut and has previously worked at The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis and Connecticut's Hartford Stage. John Hutton plays the Stage Manager and was most recently seen as Marley/Mrs. Dilber in Northern Stage's 2014 production of A Christmas Carol. Hutton is a long-time member of the resident acting company at the Denver Center Theatre Company and has performed in nearly ninety productions there. Amy Tribbey, who plays Mrs. Gibbs, was seen on Broadway in The Best Man and at Northern Stage in A Streetcar Named Desire. In casting this show, Carol Dunne has brought many regional actors to the cast including Christian Kohn (most recently seen at Northern Stage in Good People), Jamie Horton (recently seen as George Orwell in Orwell in America), Amanda Rafuse (in Northern Stage's production of A Christmas Carol), Jarvis Green (from last season's Clybourne Park), David Anzuelo (from Northern Stage's 2013 production of Twelve Angry Men), Eric Love, Margaret Hunton, Danielle Cohen, Christopher Rex Jacobs, Max Gottschall, Neal Cronce, Perry Allison, Brian Bevacqua, and Roberto Silva. The young performers are all local children: Will Kainen, Aidan Samwick, Trevor Siegel, Olivia Swayze, Cordelia Durand, Ella Falcone, Faye Stevens, Julia Cook, Jamie Hackett, Clay Kynor, Gunnar Langhus, Ella Caterini, Tessa Cullen, and Maddy Trimpi.

Performances are Tuesdays through Sundays; sponsored by Mascoma Savings Bank, LaValley Building Supply, Inc, Sabil & Sons, Inc. and White Mountains Insurance. A companion event Athena Conversation "2020: Vermont, Community, and the Creative Economy" led by Matt Dunne, head of Community Affairs at Google and former Vermont Senator, will be held in the Byrne Theater at the Barrette Center for the Arts on Sunday, October 11 from 3:30 - 4:30 PM. This conversation is free and open to the public.

Twenty-three general admission $25 tickets are available on stage for each performance of this production. Discounted tickets are available for preview performances October 7-9. $15 Anytime Student tickets are available for any performance, regular adult ticket prices range from $30-$55. A free Grand Opening Celebration of the Barrette Center for Arts will take place on October 10 from 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM. A complimentary post-show reception with the cast follows the opening night performance on Saturday, October 10.
