New Music On the Point Offers Free Concert at THT June 19
A new program on Lake Dunmore offers college-aged musicians a chance to explore contemporary chamber music. The good news for local music lovers is that the two-week camp ends with a free recital at Middlebury's Town Hall Theater on Sunday, June 19, at 2 pm.
The program, New Music on the Point, encourages collaboration among composers, instrumentalists and vocalists. Participants work with distinguished composers-in-residence Kathryn Alexander (Yale University) and David Rakowski (Brandeis University), the innovative ensemble-in-residence 5th House Ensemble, the exciting mezzo-soprano Jennifer Beattie (Philadelphia) and pianist Jillian Zack.
The upcoming recital will feature recent works from Alexander and Rakowski, and premieres by talented young composers of chamber music for violin, cello, flute, clarinet, piano and voice.
