Jason P. Lorber, who performs smart and funny comedy all over New England, takes over the Town Hall Theater Cabaret for two shows on Friday, February 25.

The THT Cabaret, now in its second season, transforms the Byers Studio, on the lower level of the theater, into a hip and intimate club. Patrons sit at tables, the lights are low, and beer, wine and snacks are available.

"I love that we use the Cabaret to introduce new performers and unusual acts," says THT executive director Douglas Anderson. "Jason has performed here as an actor but we've never seen his stand-up work, which is famous in the Burlington area. It was time to get him down here."

Lorber's stand-up career is currently in high gear. He is the host of the monthly Comedy Fix in Burlington, and just became a finalist in the Higher Ground 2011 Comedy Battle.

When he's not telling jokes, he's a state representative in Montpelier, representing downtown Burlington and the Old North End.

Lorber will do two shows, at 7 pm and 9 pm, on Friday, February 25. Tickets are $10, and may be purchased at www.townhalltheater.org., 802 382-9222, or at the THT Box Office (Mon-Sat, noon-5 pm.) Beer, wine and snacks will be available.
