Inspired by Dylan Thomas’s line “The force that through the green fuse drives the flower,” Espiritu Vocal Ensemble’s spring concert celebrates the energy of renewal and the returning light of the season.
The Green Fuse explores the pulse of spring through music that is joyful, reflective, and folk-rooted — a vibrant mix of choral colour and rhythmic vitality. The program includes music by contemporary composer Jake Runestad, a beloved Canadian folk classic by Stan Rogers, and songs shaped by African and Celtic musical traditions.
Featured guest artist Michelle Carlisle, an acclaimed multi-instrumentalist, brings her expressive flute and traditional whistles to the program, adding a brilliant Celtic flavour. She is joined by Lukas Pelladeau (bass) and Gary Mussatto (drums), with Boyana Makedonska at the piano.
Together, these musicians and Espiritu Vocal Ensemble create a rich and dynamic sound world that celebrates growth, renewal, and the spark of new beginnings.
Join us for an evening of music that captures the spirit of spring — vibrant, reflective, and full of life.
