fanSHEN presents LISTS FOR THE END OF THE WORLD, performed by Clare Dunn, Shireen Mula & Delme Thomas (won The Stage Award for Acting Excellence in 2016 - Saturday Night Forever, Underbelly) // Direction by Dan Barnard & Rachel Briscoe // Created by Dan Barnard, Rachel Briscoe, Rachel Donovan, Clare Dunn, Shireen Mula, Ed Richards & Delme Thomas.

Lists - they're something we all make - to remember, to make decisions, to make sense of our lives. Italian novelist and philosopher Umberto Eco even suggests that we make lists to deal with our own mortality; we are seeking to establish control over a moment in time.

- Things I pretend to be interested in.

- Times my 8 year old self would be proud of me.

- Places I would hide a body.

fanSHEN's Lists For the End of the World is a show composed entirely of crowd-sourced lists, from all kinds of people in all kinds of places - including the audience as they queue up to take their seats. It is a joyful and touching view of the world through other people's eyes, as we put pen to paper to try and make meaning out of everything, from the mundane to the profound.

To date, fanSHEN have had over 200 people contribute their lists to the show, with that number increasing every week. The show celebrates our differences, as the audience laugh, cry, but overall comes out the theatre massively uplifted.

In Lists For the End of the World, the ordinary and the extraordinary, the profound and the ridiculous sit playfully side by side.

Includes: laughs, music, sadtimes, romance, some dancing, a look at the world through other people's eyes, fish sticks.

"Lists as a form are so simple - no one is intimidated by the prospect of making a list and they allow people to share how they experience the world, massive things next to seemingly trivial ones. I love this because it shows how beautifully contradictory people are. I wanted to make the show because it's a funny, accessible way to say something quite profound. The world inside people's heads is so much more interesting than reality; different people experience the same thing in incredibly diverse ways. The piece intends show to how wonderful, contradictory and surprising people are" Rachel Briscoe co-founder fanSHEN

Lists For the End of the World was awarded the 'Live Lab Empty Space Bursary' in 2016, and co-commissioned by ARC Stockton. It was also supported by Dartington and Shoreditch Town Hall. The 2017 tour supported by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.

fanSHEN was founded in 2007 by Dan Barnard and Rachel Briscoe with the core goal of using theatre to help people imagine what they haven't thought of yet. fanSHEN's patron is Mark Rylance.
