Bilston Operatic Company returns to Wolverhampton Grand Theatre this month with A CHRISTMAS CAROL following the huge success of last year's production of Our House and 2015's Hairspray. The festive musical, featuring the music of Alan Menken (Disney's Beauty And The Beast, Aladdin, Tangled, The Little Mermaid) will open on Tuesday 21 November.

The Charles Dickens story is given the full Broadway treatment and follows Ebenezer Scrooge - a prosperous curmudgeon who believes that personal wealth is far more valuable than the happiness and comfort of others. With an infuriated "Bah! Humbug!" Scrooge summates his feelings of Christmas tidings and charitable giving, but he's forced to face his selfish ways when three ghosts on Christmas Eve lead him through his Past, Present and Future. Thanks to their guidance, Scrooge recognises his faults and greets Christmas morning with a cheerful "Happy Christmas" before spending the day reconnecting and sharing love with those that mean the most to him.

Taking the role of Ebenezer Scrooge is Nicholas Sullivan, a part he has played twice before in a musical version of Scrooge! and a previous production of A Christmas Carol. He is joined by Amy Frost as Mrs Cratchit and Alastair Smith as Bob. The company is completed by a talented group of local actors.

Direction and choreography is provided by Laura Canadine.

Bilston Operatic Company, established in 1927, performed annually at The Theatre Royal in Bilston for 30 years before moving to the Grand Theatre where they have performed ever since. Productions in recent years have included Our House (2016), Hairspray (2015), Peter Pan (2014), Annie (2013) and Hello Dolly (2012). The society also has a youth company for younger members.

Tickets for A CHRISTMAS CAROL are now on sale from the Box Office, by calling 01902 42 92 12 or online at grandtheatre.co.uk.
