Warwick Davis to Bring SEE HOW THEY RUN to Belgrade Theatre, March 3-8
Britain's most famous short actor, Warwick Davis, best-known for his roles in Willow, Star Wars and the Harry Potter films is coming to Coventry's Belgrade Theatre from Mon 3 - Sat 8 March, starring in the classic comedy, See How They Run. In this unique version of the play, Warwick will be accompanied by his newly formed theatre company, The Reduced Height Theatre Company, a cast of actors entirely under 4 foot tall.
With a career spanning nearly three decades, much-loved actor Warwick Davis has played numerous roles in blockbuster films and most recently has become a household name through his TV appearances in Doctor Who and Ricky Gervais comedies Life's Too Short and An Idiot Abroad 3.
This will be the first venture as an actor and producer for Warwick Davis, who said, "The formation of The Reduced Height Theatre Company is a dream realised for me. As a short actor, I am not always afforded the same professional opportunities as my taller colleagues. This new venture will tip the balance in favour of myself and the other talented short actors in the UK. In these times of equality and diversity, this will be a unique, bold and empowering journey."
Widely regarded as one of the best farce plays ever written, See How They Run by Philip King is a quintessentially British comedy with doors, vicars and several hilarious cases of mistaken identity. Set in 1944 in a vicarage in the fictional village of Merton-cum-Middlewick, a plot of mishaps spiral out of control, culminating in a houseful of bishops, deacons and other assorted clergymen.
In the play, married couple Penelope and Reverend Lionel Toop are paid a visit by a whole host of different characters from the village including Lance Corporal Clive Winten who borrows a suit from Lionel, Humphrey the Bishop of Lax and a fleeting visit from a Russian spy who steels the Reverends clothes as a disguise. When a police officer arrives at the scene, he finds them all inexplicably dressed as clergy with no way of determining the Russian spy among them!
See How They Run is the debut theatre tour for The Reduced Height Theatre Company, which is made up of nine talented short actors including Jon Key, Rachel Denning and Ray Griffiths who all appeared alongside Warwick Davis in TV sitcom, Life's Too Short. See How They Run is a family comedy and suitable for children.
Tickets for See How They Run are available now from the Belgrade's Box Office on 024 7655 3055 priced from £16.25 to £31 or via www.belgrade.co.uk where cheaper tickets are available.
