Tristan Bates Theatre presents MEIWES/BRANDES Image

'MEIWES/BRANDES' is a daring, raw and original piece of music theatre created by four RADA graduates, which chronicles the true story of a dark and disturbing relationship. It premiers in February at The Actors Centre as part The Tristan Bates Theatre's inaugural 'John Thaw Initiative.'

"We have very similar tastes..."

Armin Meiwes and Bernd Brandes gained international notoriety when they took their relationship to twisted new levels in one of the most baffling and yet strangely intoxicating love stories of recent years.

"Vorarephilia is a noun, a paraphilia and a fetish, chiefly practiced by role-playing, involving the devouring of, or being devoured by another person or creature...He says that I'm mtender."

Tristan Bates Theatre presents MEIWES/BRANDES ImageWith original songs written and composed by the cast themselves, the musical theatre element adds an unexpected dimension, highlighting and underscoring the unsettling, insidious yet enthralling nature of this now infamous event.

"My legs are trembling. My whole body is basting in sweat. This feels right. This is how it should be..."

Scott Howland joins the cast having recently performed his new play 'Nothing to Perform' at The Camden Fringe, and also recently directed at the National Theatre as part of their 'Space to Create' programme.

Harriet Taylor directed 'Nothing to Perform' at The Cockpit Theatre and is also currently starring in 'Ordinary Days' which plays at Soho Theatre later this month.

Laura Dorn is about to direct a new version of Wilde's 'Salomé' at the Rosemary Branch Theatre, and is currently working on a feature film.

Rory Richardson is currently in talks with the Soho Theatre after receiving critical acclaim for her one woman show Ovarydose. She has also recently joined the Camden Roundhouse Young Creatives group for Cabaret and Drag performers.
