The Point Announces Summer Season

The Point, Eastleigh's summer season is packed full of family theatre, fantastic live music, outdoor cinema and unmissable contemporary dance.

On Thursday 24th May the venue begins its summer season with comedy from two of the country's most promising stand-up's Mark Simmons & Matt Rees. The evening is a great opportunity to see the comedian's new material ahead of their performances at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Eastleigh Unwrapped officially launches The Point's Summer Social; a programme of 40+ events taking place inside the venue and on its Outdoor Garden Stage. The free festival returns on Saturday 23rd June and features some of the UK and Europe's most exciting performers across circus, theatre and dance.

Circus Trick Tease present Children are Stinky on 23rd June. Fusing acrobatics, circus, comedy and hula hooping, this critically-acclaimed show will please audiences of all ages, particularly children aged 3-12 years old. This performance is a ticketed event, presented alongside Eastleigh Unwrapped.

The Point welcomes four exceptional family theatre companies to the venue this summer for Outdoor Family Fun Days on select Saturdays; inviting local families to the venue for great new theatre and interactive workshops on the Garden Stage.

On 30th June The Fabularium presents Reynard the Fox: a delightful family tale performed on a traditional wooden cart, featuring puppetry, live music and engaging storytelling.

Commotion Dance presents Little Artist: Big Painting on 27th July, inviting young people into a magical world of movement and daring dance. ABC Concerts presents Strings and Things on 14th July; an engaging musical journey for families with young children.

Paddleboat Theatre presents Rustle on 21st July; a delightful show for children aged 4+ and their grownups that will spark the imagination and encourage families to spend more time outdoors.

The venue's family shows are priced at £8 for adults and £6 for children, with a special family ticket offer of four for £24 or five for £28.

The venue has a busy season of live music, once again partnering with SoCo Music Project to present The Garden Sessions; evenings of music from local musicians, including Route2Roots on Friday 6th July. The venue also introduces news series Sounds of Summer; a perfect post-work destination featuring DJ's, a pop-up bar and BBQ. Both strands take place on The Point's Outdoor Garden Stage.

Outdoor Cinema returns this summer for a weekend of great film, Thursday 19th to Saturday 21st July. The triple-bill features Minima: The Lodger, accompanied by a live musical score; Pride starring Bill Nighy and Imelda Staunton; and the cult phenomenon Saturday Night Fever.

The Point Youth Theatre presents The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Thursday 26th to Saturday 28th July. Written by Neil Duffield, this fast-paced adaptation is great fun for everyone aged 7 plus, particularly children with a thirst for mystery and adventure.

Wellbeing Sunday's are a new summer initiative at The Point, inviting local people to attend relaxing and empowering days of Samba, Pilates and Yoga - and more -, and enjoy a delicious healthy lunch. Tickets are just £5 for adults and £3 for children.

A regional powerhouse for contemporary dance, The Point showcases some of the best in emerging talent with three evenings of unmissable dance. See final year students perform new commissions at the Rambert School Showcase on Friday 29th June, join talented community groups in spectacular annual showcase Hothouse on Sunday 1st July and spend An Evening with Hampshire Youth Dance Company on Friday 20th July.

For those wanting to get involved, Atlantico, an 8-piece band inspired by Latin rhythms of Colombia's coast, play at The Point on Saturday 14th July, inviting local people to join in on an evening of dancing, including a free salsa workshop.

The Summer Social closes with the Eastleigh Mela on Saturday 22nd July. Celebrating the cultural diversity of the borough, the much-loved event features a programme of live music and dance, taking place across two stages.

The Point's summer season also includes interactive dance classes for all ages, a not-to-be-missed cinema strand, and much more.
