The Circus Project to Host Aerial Dance Trapeze Workshop with Melissa Colello, Nov 3

The Circus Project are excited to be able to offer a workshop in Dance Trapeze with Melissa Colello on Sunday, 3rd Nov 2013 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hangleton Community Centre, Harmsworth Crescent, Hove, East Sussex, BN3 8BW. Cost: £35.

At the age of 15 Melissa started training trapeze at the National Circus School in Montreal, where she specialised in swinging trapeze and dance trapeze. It was Melissa who introduced dance trapeze to the Montreal national circus school. Straight after her training she participated at the Festival du Cirque de Demain in Paris in 1996 with a triple trapeze act, they won the "coup de coeur" award.

Melissa has a wealth of experience from traditional circus (Circus Scott in Sweden) passing by cabaret in Berlin ( Wintergarden) to creating shows with many different companies ( Generating company, Scarabeus, Retour Amont, Les Arts Sauts). She joined 'Les Arts Sauts' in 2003 and was part of the notorious french aerial collective until they disbanded. She then founded 'Cirk Vost' a french aerial company that carry the spirit of 'Les Arts Sauts' and still push the boundaries of aerial. Melissa's been touring all over the world since 1996. She loves was she does for a living, flying in the air!

Participants will need a basic skill level on static trapeze. It is essential to be able to tuck in under the bar un-assisted and be confident to invert up in the ropes.

The workshop will focus on:

Static trapeze technique

Single point trapeze with a swivel

Trapeze with ground contact/ swivel trapeze in the air

Adult Aerial Drop-In Classes:

Adult drop-in classes also continue, with intermediate classes on a Monday evening,7:30-8:45 and the beginners classes on Tuesday evenings, 6:45-8:00pm. Both classes cost £10.
