The Churchill Theatre Bromley Hosts An Open House

The Churchill Theatre Bromley will be inviting people to take a look behind the scenes on Saturday 17 September, when it takes part in Open House London. Every year, the Churchill Theatre Bromley allows people to see what happens behind those velvet curtains. This year, with the theatre back after a five month maintenance period, the theatre will open far more than just its doors - with a week of information, blogging and much more to give people a real insight into the inner workings of a theatre.

Kick starting this week of information on Monday 12 September, members of the Churchill Theatre's staff will be live-tweeting their days, and blogging about what exactly it is that they do in their every day working lives. To follow this informative feed on a career in the arts, follow the Churchill Theatre Bromley's Twitter account @The_Churchill . All tweets will follow the hashtag #openchurchill - so join in the conversation, send over questions you may have, or simply read up on the everyday aspects of the life of someone who works at the Churchill Theatre.

This week culminates in backstage tours, displays, and activities in the theatre foyer on Saturday 17 September. Tours are available at 10am, 11am, 12noon and 1pm. The 10am tour will be specific to families and children. Not only will you be able to visit dressing rooms used by some of the biggest theatre stars, stand on the stage, and see some of the props used in productions at the theatre, you will also get the opportunity to see some exclusive costumes from some of the theatre's upcoming productions, including Matthew Bourne's NUTCRACKER!, THE JUNGLE BOOK and JOSEPH - never displayed in the theatre before. Explore the history behind theatre in Bromley, as well as hear all the backstage gossip from the many stars who have passed through the theatre's Stage Door.

Every September, Open House London gives a unique opportunity to get out and under the skin of London's amazing architecture - with over 700 buildings opening their doors to everyone for free.

With architects homes, eco and retrofit buildings, tours of major regeneration projects, landscape projects, government buildings, historic landmarks and towers, major infrastructure sites and more all available to explore over one weekend, it's a great way to find out how good design makes more liveable cities.
