THE GOOD PERSON OF SZECHWAN and More Set for Fourth Monkey Theatre's Spring 2014 Programme
Following its successful transfer of the Edinburgh Fringe hit The Peculiar Tale of Pablo Picasso and the Mona Lisa to the Brockley Jack Studio Theatre in February and its current Marlowe450 season at Canterbury's Marlowe Theatre, the Fourth Monkey Theatre Company can now reveal the remainder of its spring programme.
From 9th April to 3rd May, its Year of the Monkey students will be making a return to London's Trinity Buoy Wharf (www.trinitybuoywharf.com), performing three productions in repertory: Bertolt Brecht's The Good Person of Szechwan, directed by Steve Tiller; Timberlake Wertenbaker's Our Country's Good, directed by Toby Clarke; and Yerma by Frederico Garcia Lorca, directed by Cat Robey.
Fourth Monkey will visit Trinity Buoy Wharf again in June with students from its Two-Year Rep Actor Training Programme for a short season of two Greek plays (details TBC).
From 22nd May to 7th June, Fourth Monkey's Second Year Graduation Season will be staged in rep at London's Jackson's Lane Theatre (www.jacksonslane.org.uk). This showcase will feature Arnold Wesker's The Kitchen, directed by Mitch Mitchelson, former Artistic Director of Circus Space; Caryl Churchill's Vinegar Tom, directed by Simone Coxall; and Ice Man, a new work written and directed by Toby Clarke, adapted from Haruki Murakami's short story.
Fourth Monkey is currently preparing for its transition to theSpaceUK for the Edinburgh Fringe in August, with three productions (TBA shortly) from Year of the Monkey, while Second Year students present an exciting new site specific work, written by Toby Clarke and inspired by both Alice's Adventures In Wonderland and the life of its author Lewis Carroll. And for the first time, it will stage a children's show at the Fringe: The Sad Story of the Sun and the Moon, devised by members of the Two-Year Rep Programme.
Details of the debut tour of the newly formed professional repertory company, Fourth Monkey Ensemble, in autumn 2014 will also be announced soon.
Based in London, multi-award nominated Fourth Monkey Theatre Company has evolved to become one of the most innovative actor training providers operating in the country today. The company offers a relevant, contemporary and forward-thinking training for actors across two courses of one or two years, with an emphasis on repertory theatre.
