Storyhouse 2018 Summer Season Now On Sale
Multi award-winning Storyhouse have announced the 2018 summer season is now on sale: A Little Night Music, Swallows and Amazons and The Crucible make up the season of home produced theatre at Storyhouse.
Alex Clifton, artistic director, Storyhouse said:
'Our company of over 50 performers will present a season full of joy, passion and delight - which definitely offers something for everyone. A Little Night Music is one of the greatest musicals of the twentieth century and will make for a gorgeous night out; Swallows and Amazons lit up my childhood and captures the best and wildest bits of all our school holidays; The Crucible is a political thriller that follows on brilliantly from our exhilarating production of Julius Caesar last summer.'
The season opens on 5 May with Stephen Sondheim's multi award-winning A Little Night Music, featuring the song Send in the Clowns. It will run at Storyhouse until Sunday 8 July. Opening 1 June Arthur Ransome's classic children's tale of adventure and the great outdoors: Swallows and Amazons - reimagined for Chester. Completing Storyhouse's season is Arthur Miller's shattering tale of the Salem witch trials The Crucible from 15 June until 7 July.
The productions will be performed by Storyhouse's rep company of 31 actors, the largest outside of the National Theatre and the RSC. Also performing: eight musicians, a community chorus of 15 and 2 actors from Storyhouse and the University of Chester's MA Drama Programme.

Storyhouse is creating a new model for a modern cultural organisation. It is the first arts organisation to run a city library. A city theatre, library, cinema and Levantine restaurant, it produces work for its own stage half of the year and welcomes touring shows for the other half. It is already one of the city's principal visitor attractions and welcomes 3,000 visitors a day. The library has the longest opening hours in the UK and its community programmes reaches in excess of 150,000 individuals. It sold 42,000 tickets for the company's opening four productions and is on course for 1m customers in its first year.
