Sheffield Theatres Hosts Young Performers for National Theatre Connections
Sheffield Theatres will play host to local young performers from Thursday 21 - Thursday 28 March as National Theatre Connections takes over the Crucible Studio Theatre for a celebration of new writing and talented young theatre-makers.
Each year The National Theatre asks ten writers to create new plays for the project which are performed by young theatre companies across the country, with the help of industry professionals. Sheffield Theatres will be showing eight of the plays, from writers including Jim Cartwright (Rise and Fall of Little Voice) and Jonathan Harvey (Shameless, Coronation Street), in the Studio Theatre performed by fourteen Yorkshire theatre groups aged from thirteen to nineteen.
Speaking about the festival, Emily Hutchinson, Creative Projects Manager at Sheffield Theatres commented: 'We are excited to be part of The National Theatre Connections festival for the third year running. The last two years have been a great success and we look forward to welcoming more young people to Sheffield Theatres, presenting work by some of the country's finest writing talent.'
During the week the Crucible foyer will be transformed with a unique installation adding to the festival feel and celebrating young theatre making.
