Royalty And Celebrities Feature In Touring Photography Exhibition At Warrington Gallery
An emotional image of Princess Diana, Prince William and Prince Harry, and a moody portrait of Benedict Cumberbatch, are among stunning shots now on display at Warrington Museum & Art Gallery as part of a touring photography exhibition.
The Royal Photographic Society (RPS) Members Biennial Exhibition is now adorning the walls of the Museum Street gallery and will remain in situ until 5 August.
The exhibition has been produced by members, associates and honorary fellows of the RPS, including some of the most respected names in photography today, and features a variety of mediums from digital to analogue, and alternative processes, phone photography and scientific work.
The collection includes images as diverse as a helicopter landing on the snow-capped mountains of Greenland to a self-portrait which explores loneliness.
The Society has a rich and diverse heritage; it was formed in 1853 to promote the art and science of photography and is still a leading voice in the world of photography today with over 11,600 members worldwide. The touring Members' Biennial Exhibition is a key element in the Society's calendar.
From documenting city life to capturing incredible moments from the natural world, the exhibition celebrates members' talents and diversity of interests at all levels, and features work by artists from France, Hong Kong, India, Italy and the UK to name a few, with an age range of 23 to 88.
It is hoped the exhibition will inspire local photographers to enter the Warrington Contemporary Arts Festival photography open competition which is being held again this autumn - with a first prize of £250 and a solo exhibition at Warrington Museum & Art Gallery.
For more information on the competition or to submit entries visit www.warringtonartsfestival.co.uk from Monday 31 July.
