RESTITUTION Plays King’s Head Theatre, March 11 Through April 1

Inspired by a documentary film about holocaust reparations by the writer and comedian David Baddiel, 'Baddiel and the Missing Nazi Billions', Restitution by Emily Juniper, will play a strictly limited season at the King’s Head Theatre, Islington, from Sunday March 11 - Sunday April 1, performing on Sundays and?Mondays.

 

Press Night is Monday 12 March at 7.15 pm.

 

Restitution is the story of one man’s quest to find what his mother searched for all her life. Will he find it in this tiny gallery… his fate hangs here but who does it belong to?

 

“They’ll just arrest the painting you know? Not my mother, not me. They’ll take Hero into some dusty courthouse basement, they won’t regulate the dampness in the atmosphere, they won’t adjust the lighting or monitor the cracks in the oil. They’ll ruin her, and we’ll be on the outside ripping each other’s lives apart for no good reason.”

 

The cast features Alastair Kirton and Chloe Gilgallon. 

 

Alastair Kirton’s theatre work includes Gone (New Ambassadors Theatre), The Changing Room (Royal Court), Feeding Time (BAC), and The Alteration (for Ugly Sisters Productions at Southwark Playhouse). Alastair played the title character in the celebrated low budget  zombie film, Colin - shot for just £45 - that went on to win four awards at major horror film festivals. Most recently, Alastair spent nine months playing an obsessive compulsive cleaner in the interactive thriller; Accomplice: London (produced by the Menier Chocolate Factory/Neil Patrick Harris). 

 

Chloe Gilgallon’s theatre credits include:?Olivia in Twelfth Night with the Young Shakespeare Company, The Governess/Ensemble in Moll Flanders at Southwark Playhouse and she was a company member of Theatre Nomad's international project in Kosovo.

 

Writer Emily Juniper’s credits include Restitution (Theatre503 and UK Tour); The Alteration and Luminosity (both Southwark Playhouse); Deadwood (Independent feature) and the award-winning So I Suppose This is Offensive Now (Edinburgh). A new production of The Alteration is currently in development through the support of Bristol Old Vic. 

 

Director Julia McShane has directed at Bristol Old Vic; Nuffield Theatre, Southampton; The Wyvern; Swindon Assembly Rooms; New End, Hampstead, Southwark Playhouse and Theatre503. She is also a guest director and practitioner at Goldsmiths University and Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. 

 

Designer Anna Bliss Scully’ designs include: The Fitzrovia Radio Hour (Ambassadors Theatre, Edinburgh & tour); Eight Women (Borealis/Southwark Playhouse); Phaedra's Love, The Country (Nominated:OffWestEnd Best Set Design Award), The Shawl, Victory, and Disappeared (Arcola).

 

Ugly Sister Productions has successfully been producing in the UK for the last three years; including at Southwark Playhouse, Theatre503, Buxton Festival and The White Bear, Kennington. They have worked with over 100 artists and produced over 30 pieces of new writing.
