Pleasance Theatre is transformed into a stunning, wooden stable this April when Niki McCretton presents her new show Horseplay. Horseplay is a spectacularly designed play and performance space packed with horse themed treasures. Groups of children join Niki McCretton inside the set to explore, enjoy and imagine everything equine. Lights, music, props and puppets transform a den into an amazing theatrical space.

Niki McCretton specialises in creating family friendly theatre which delights both parents and children. Horseplay has been created with the help of 120 children and early years educationalists and experts including Nikki Smedley, (performer/choreographer with Teletubbies and In the Night Garden)
The specially built stable is large enough for fifteen children to play in and explore.
Parents or teachers can peek through the windows or relax in front of a video relay. Horseplay lasts for about 50 minutes with a chance for children and parents and play together afterwards. Whilst preparing Horseplay Niki, a life long pony fan, visited The Equus Project in New York City who combine dance and equestrian artistry! She danced with horses and has also set up links with Josaphine Sellers, a leading psychotherapist who uses a herd of horses to help children and families create strong bonds.

Niki's previous show Muttnik, The First Dog in Space, was a huge success with family audiences and critics.

Says Niki: "Very small children, three to five year olds, have amazing imaginations but are sometimes too young for conventional plays where they have to sit still for a long time. This stable entertains and stimulates pre-school children and I hope is a great introduction to the joy of live performance."
