Photo Flash: HOW TO DATE A FEMINIST Comes to the Stephen Joseph Theatre
A new play from the writer of the best-selling book How to be a Heroine (Or, What I've Learned from Reading Too Much) comes to the SJT next month.
Kate likes her men tall, dark and smouldering. She has a fatal attraction to bad men. Then she meets Steve... a feminist. Can she overcome her love of lipstick, cupcakes and Heathcliff? Can he forgo the ethical confetti and learn to be a little bit more exciting in bed? Can the two of them reinvent romance for the 21st century?
Featuring two proposals, two weddings, an elopement and a cast of unforgettable characters all played by two actors - Sarah Daykin and Tom Berish - this passionate modern love story premiered at London's Arcola Theatre ahead of its UK tour.
How To Date A Feminist is directed by Matthew Lloyd whose other productions include the Olivier-nominated Duet for One with Juliet Stevenson (Almeida, West End), and The Fastest Clock in the Universe with Jude Law (Hampstead Theatre).
Writer Samantha Ellis's other plays include Cling to me Like Ivy and Operation Magic Carpet. Her first book, How to be a Heroine, was published in 2014, and was well reviewed in the national press. She was chair of judges for the Jewish Quarterly Wingate Award 2016, and writes for The Guardian, Literary Review, The TLS and The Independent.
How To Date A Feminist can be seen in the SJT's McCarthy auditorium at 7.45pm on Friday 21 October, and at2.45pm and 7.45pm on Saturday 22 October.
Tickets cost from £10 to £18, and are available from the SJT Box Office on 01723 370541 or via the website:www.sjt.uk.com
