Othello: The Remix to Play the Unicorn Theatre 12 to 29 September 2013
Following the sell-out success as part of Shakespeare's Globe to Globe Festival,Othello: The Remix comes to the Unicorn Theatre with its fresh urban take on Shakespeare's tragedy.
Lyrically re-written over original beats, this hip-hop adaptation is performed by the ever inventive Q Brothers and transposes Shakespeare's story of betrayal, jealousy and suspicion to the competitive world of the music industry.
Othello: The Remix is written, directed and performed by the Q Brothers and follows the international and award-winning success of their previous shows,The Bomb-itty of Errors (Ambassadors Theatre) and Funk It Up About Nothin' (Stratford East and Edinburgh). In addition to the Q Brothers, the cast ofOthello: The Remix includes Jackson Doran, Postell Pringle and DJ Clayton Stamper.
Artistic Director, Purni Morell says: 'I'm thrilled that Chicago Shakespeare Theater is coming to the Unicorn this Autumn, with such an exciting and relevant show for young people - and also not so young people, as I include myself in those who were wowed by it.'
Othello: The Remix is a dynamic addition to the Unicorn Theatre's programme of work for teenage audiences. As well as insights after performances on Thu 19, Sat 21 and Thu 26 September, there is an extensive learning programme accompanying Othello: The Remix with resource packs and Q&As with the cast after the show.
