ONASSIS Closes at the Derby Theatre, 9/25

According to Whatsonstage.com, Tony Award winning actor Robert Lindsay will reprise his role as Aristotle Onassis in Martin Sherman's ONASSIS. It will premiere at the Derby Theater which reopened in 2009 after the closure of Derby Playhouse. ONASSIS will run from September 10-25 before transferring to the West End (no London dates or theater have been announced yet.)
Originally named ARISTO when it premiered at the Chichester Festival in September 2008, ONASSIS has been significantly rewritten. The play follows the last years of Onassis' life, including his relationships with Jackie Kennedy, Maria Callas, and son Alexandros. The production will be directed by Nancy Meckler again and presented by Derby Live in association with Chichester Festival Theatre. The production will be newly cast around the vetern Lindsay.Lindsay has appeared on TV in roles on shows liked "Citizen Smith," "GBH," "Hornblower," and "My Family." His musical credits include OLIVER! and ME AND MY GIRL for which he won an Olivier and Tony Award. Other stage credits include RICHARD III, BECKET, HAMLET, CYRANO DE BERGERAC, POWER, and the 50th anniversary revival of THE ENTERTAINER in the West End.
