More Bard, Less Bored This Summer at Coventry's Belgrade Theatre

By:

With the summer holidays fast approaching the Belgrade Theatre is delighted to announce the return of its ever popular Summer School which will run from Mon 25 - Fri 29 July for ages 8- 11 and 11 - 16 years.

Over the course of 5 fun-filled days, participants will take part in a range of practical & theatrical workshops in a week-long celebration of all things Shakespeare!

Marking 400 years since the death of the Bard, this year's Summer School will make Shakespeare fun and accessible for young people through energetic physical theatre workshops and games.

Participants will learn more about Stratford's famous son whilst also developing new skills, improving confidence and creativity, and making lots of new friends.

Workshops will be split into two separate age groups so participants will be socialising with young people of their own age, but the groups will also have opportunities to work together.

No previous experience is necessary to take part in Summer School which will be led by experienced DBS checked practitioners in the Belgrade's safe and professional theatre.

Early drop-off and late pick-up options are available for busy parents as well as special family discounts if two or more siblings take part.

Summer School runs from Mon 25 - Fri 29 July between 10am and 4.30pm. Tickets for Summer School are priced at £120.00 per person for the full week. The full cost of the week must be paid for by the first session, but customers are now able to pay in two instalments. Family discounts available if two or more siblings booked onto the same event, during the same term. This discount only applies when booking over the phone or in person at Box Office.

For the first time ever this August, the Belgrade Theatre will also be running a unique, two-day Summer School for ages 50+ on Tues 16 - Wed 17 August between10am and 4.30pm.

This year the theme of Summer School will be The Art of Clowning where participants will take a journey into the wonderful world of physical theatre and explore the use of masks in performance.

Through these physical, fun-filled workshops, participants will have the opportunity to learn new skills, expand physical awareness and develop new friendships all within the confines of a safe, professional theatre environment.

Participants with physical/health concerns can discuss these with the Community & Education team prior to booking, on communityadmin@belgrade.co.uk or 024 7684 6741.

Tickets for Summer School 50+ are priced at £50 per person covering both days. The Belgrade will also be running FREE taster sessions for those who have not attended workshops at the theatre before. Places for this are limited so residents are advised to book early to avoid disappointment. The sessions will run on Fri 12 Aug and Tues 23 Aug from 11am - 1pm. To book, call the Belgrade Theatre Box Office team on 024 7655 3055 or book online at www.belgrade.co.uk
