Marlowe Theatre to Host The Garden of England Project 9-12 April

Kentish producers are invited to take part in a unique market set up by The Marlowe Theatre. Local businesses can apply for a stall outside the theatre in April as part of The Garden Of England. This community project will bring together people from the area to explore what it means to live in Kent. Members of The Marlowe's creative classes will perform in and around the theatre, and a vital part of the performances look at the county's rich but controversial history of agricultural production.

The Garden Of England Production Manager Katherine Igoe-Ewer said she was looking for produce that captures the spirit of Kent, including fruit and vegetables, beer, cider, wine and juice, and crafts.

"The stalls will form the backdrop to the outdoor performances and will run alongside 16th century merchants, played by Marlowe youth theatre members. It will be busy - we are expecting large numbers for the shows, as well as passers-by- and we would like stallholders who will thrive on the atmosphere," she said.

"This is an opportunity for traders to display their products to lots of people and to be involved in an exciting local arts project."

The Garden Of England is at The Marlowe Theatre from Wednesday 9 to Saturday 12 April. Stallholders must be prepared to open until 8pm each day.
