Sue Buckmaster, one of the UK's leading puppetry practitioners and Artistic Director of Theatre-Rites is collaborating with the Little Angel's new Artistic Director and extraordinary puppeteer Adam Bennett, to bring you an exclusive scratch evening of live un-rehearsed, improvised puppetry.

An acutely sensitive process that usually takes place behind closed doors, the evening will provide a unique and fun opportunity to watch how Sue listens to a puppet, engages a puppeteer and whispers a new character into life.

WARNING: Due to their nature, some puppets may become fragile or offensive and Sue might have to KILL them. All necessary precautions will be taken to avoid causing upset to the audience.

Sue Buckmaster says "I would like to provide a glimpse into my world; to show what it really takes for a puppet maker, a puppeteer and an audience to truly infuse an inanimate object with life. It is a wonderful opportunity for Theatre-Rites to expose the secrets of the rehearsal room and a delight for me to be able to collaborate with Adam. This will be an insightful and, at times, very silly reflection on what I have spent a lifetime developing - anything could happen and that is part of the joy".

Adam Bennett says "This is a great opportunity to present Sue's method of bringing a puppet to life and exploring creatively, a puppets's strengths and weaknesses, its abilities and challenges. I'm looking forward to opening up this process to our audiences at Little Angel Theatre and creating an entertaining and revealing evening of improvised delights."

Theatre-Rites is committed to working with artists to push the boundaries of theatrical form. It has established an outstanding reputation for excellence and innovation since its formation in 1995. Sue Buckmaster has many years' experience as a director, puppetry specialist and teacher, including work with National Theatre, RSC, the Young Vic, Sadler's Wells, the South Bank Centre, Complicite and the Puppet Centre.

Little Angel Theatre is a centre of excellence for puppetry theatre and training. Based in Islington since 1961 its influence is felt across the UK theatre sector and throughout the globe. Adam Bennett joined Little Angel Theatre in January 2014, having worked as a puppeteer and deviser for over 20 years, touring productions across the world.
