To introduce 3-6 year olds to Shakespeare, former Children's Laureate Michael Rosen has written THE MAGICIAN'S DAUGHTER. This gentle 40 minute play is directed by Peter Glanville and is produced in association with the Royal Shakespeare Company. It runs from 28 May to 10 July with its press showing on 4 June at 3.30pm

The puppets are designed and made by Lyndie Wright; scenic design is by Simon Plumridge and lighting design is by David Duffy. The actors are: Clare Rebekah Pointing and Lizzie Wort.

In this gentle and humorous story, grown-up Miranda tells her daughter about that faraway time when she lived on a magical island with her father Prospero. Using Little Angel's trademark blend of puppetry and song, Miranda's daughter discovers for herself Ariel, Caliban and the "isle full of noises" where her mother lived long ago. THE MAGICIAN'S DAUGHTER follows what has proved to be a wonderful TEMPEST for ages 7 and up.

THE MAGICIAN'S DAUGHTER is entirely suitable for ages 3-6 but please note that children younger than 3 will only be admitted to Baby Friendly performances (Sunday mornings at 11 am).

Michael Rosen is one of the best known children's writers in the UK. His previous play for Little Angel GIVE US A HAND!! toured 10 London Boroughs in 2007 before its Little Angel season in September of that year. He is an outspoken supporter of Little Angel; in an earlier interview Michael said he enjoyed writing for puppets because "the words are contributing to a strange kind of magic which requires a lot of imagination-work from its young audiences."

Peter Glanville has been Artistic Director of Little Angel for five years. His productions for Little Angel include THE TEMPEST, THE SNOW QUEEN, JELLY BEAN JACK and THE FABULOUS FLUTTERBYS. In 2009 he created the SUSPENSE London Puppetry Festival, bringing high quality puppet theatre to adult audiences and it returns in October/November 2011.

Little Angel Theatre is "the home of British puppetry" and one of only three building based puppet theatres in England. Established 50 years ago in 1961, this one-time temperance hall in a quiet Islington square is the centre of activities for all ages. The 100 seat auditorium stands side by side with the workshop, where all new productions are lovingly created.
