I NEED A DOCTOR: THE WHOSICAL to Play Leicester Square Theatre 28th Oct - 2nd Nov

By:

The award-winning musical comedy I Need A Doctor: The Whosical will run at The Leicester Square Theatre 28th October - 2nd November 2014 following their successful spring tour 2014 and Edinburgh Fringe 2013/2014. For more details please visit http://www.leicestersquaretheatre.com/whats-on/comedy.

Jamie and Jess have written a brand new musical about their time-travelling hero, but there's one snag - they can't break BBC copyright. So how do you write a 'Doctor Who' musical without getting shut down by the beeb, with a cast of two, in only one hour?!

See 'A Doctor' and his companion battle copyright-free villains 'Da Masta', 'The Cybergents' and 'The Exterminators' through the power of musical theatre, paying homage to some of the musical greats: Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, The Little Mermaid and....Kanye?!

Especially for 2014, I Need A Doctor features brand new songs, a regenerated story and an all-new set including our new and improved 'Phonebox' (Tardis!) and a special robot canine friend. This is a sharp, witty musical parody with a huge host of memorable characters and songs; I Need A Doctoris a musical for sci-fi nerds and theatre fans everywhere, as well as avid 'Doctor Who' fans both old and new.

Writer & Performers James Wilson-Taylor and Jessica Spray studied together at Guildford School of Acting. They premiered I Need A Doctor at the Pleasance during Edinburgh Fringe 2013, winning the Musical Theatre Network Award for Best Newcomer. Edinburgh local boy James' credits includeThe Escape Artist (BBC One) and as a writer for NewsJack (BBC Radio 4 Extra). Jess' credits include Moll Flanders directed by Ian Talbot (The Electric Theatre) and new musical Travel.

Director
Ben Occhipinti's credits include Piaf (Bolton Octagon), Spread a Little Happiness, Jack and the Beanstalk (Salisbury Playhouse) and Dr Quimpugh's Compenium of Peculian Afflictions (Petersham Playhouse and Edinburgh Fringe). Musical Director

Musical arrangements are by Ed Bussey. Ed trained at Royal Academy of Music and his credits include Jersey Boys (UK Number one tour), Footloose(Uk number 1 tour), Oklahoma (Uk number 1 tour), Newsrevue and Le Gateau Chocolat (Edinburgh Fringe).
