Hush A Bye Heads Off On UK Tour Image

Nestle among branches and come touch, see, smell and meet the woodland neighbours in the brand new, immersive and enchanting tree-top world of Hush-A-Bye, created by acclaimed young people's theatre company, Oily Cart. Based on character designs by children's author and illustrator, Nikki Pontin, this inviting leafy canopy is home to some of the creatures you might expect, and one you definitely won't - a tiny baby. How did the infant get up there? Who is looking after them? And how can we help? Join us on the UK tour from January 13th 2018 to find out.

Directed by award-winning children's theatre director, Anna Newell - the recent recipient of the Tonic Theatre Award in recognition of her outstanding theatrical events for the youngest audience - HUSH-A-BYE has been created in keeping with Oily Cart's mission to create all kinds of shows for all kinds of kids, There are three different versions available to watch on this forthcoming UK tour: one for babies and toddlers (6 months - 2 years); one for very young children (3 - 5 years), and a relaxed version for young people aged 3 - 8.

Featuring a small cast of two performers, one live musician (performing original music created by Oily Cart Musical Director Max Reinhardt and performer/composer Kadialy Kouyate) and one participatory stage manager, this is a fully immersive production staged in a promenade style. No bums must remain on seats at all times - HUSH-A-BYE allows little people to get up close and right into the heart of this magical, multi-sensory woodland wonderland. This is the perfect theatrical experience for first timers.

Of Oily Cart's most recent production for very young people - IN A PICKLE - The Guardian said: "Another lovely show from the loveliest of companies, one that has remained at the forefront of British theatre for over three decades."

Hush-A-Bye received its UK Premiere on December 12th 2017 at artsdepot, North Finchley and is now embarking on a UK tour from January 13th 2018.

Age range: The production is presented in three versions: one for babies and toddlers (6 months - 2 years), one for very young children (3 - 5 years), and a relaxed version for young people aged 3 - 8. Please visit all venue websites for dates and times of each different version.
