Direct from its success at the King's Head Theatre and 2017 VAULT Festival, A Haunting transfers to the Belgrade Theatre's B2 studio as part of its 10th anniversary season. Presented by Forethought Theatre, A Haunting is written by Nathan Lucky Wood and directed by Jennifer Davis.

It's Halloween, but Mark's not going out. While his mum buries herself in work, he's staying in, playing Xbox, and talking to Ghost. He doesn't know his real name. It's anonymous, and Mark likes it that way. He feels like they can be honest with each other. But it turns out that Ghost knows more than he should. And he really, really wants to meet...

The transfer to Coventry follows a run at London's biggest arts festival, VAULT earlier this year where it received widespread acclaim from audiences and theatre critics. With a darkly comic tone, A Haunting is the latest play from up and coming playwright Nathan Lucky Wood whose work has been performed at The Roundhouse, The Bush, The Arcola, and the Southwark Playhouse.

Wood said, "As a sexually confused teenager, you have feelings and desires you don't fully understand and aren't sure you can express publicly. The internet can feel like a safe space to explore them anonymously. At the same time, you're aware of the well-publicised dangers of the online world. A Haunting explores adolescence, the internet and the fears we have around it."

Freelance Theatre Director Jennifer Davis is a Founder of Forethought Theatre which champions new writers and recognises them as the lifeblood of British theatre, combining fiercely original writing with intricate staging that cuts straight to the action.

She is also a Co-founder of Shoot Festival and one of the Belgrade Theatre's Springboard Associate Artists. She trained on the Birmingham REP's Foundry programme and has previously worked as a Trainee Resident Director at the King's Head Theatre in London.

Davis said, "I first read A Haunting about two years ago. I was sitting in the King's Head Theatre office and the Artistic Director handed me a script with the words 'You have GOT to read this!' Well, you don't ignore advice like that and boy did that script pack a punch! I was hooked, I couldn't stop thinking about it. I met with the writer, Nathan Lucky Wood, and the rest is history. In the past two years we've performed twice at the King's Head Theatre and had a run at one of the UK's most prestigious art festivals: VAULT Festival. I'm thrilled that we can now bring this production to my home city of Coventry and to the Belgrade where I am a Springboard Associate Artist."

The Belgrade Theatre's Springboard Initiative was established in 2015 to support early stage artists and companies to develop to the next chapter of their careers.

Autumn 2017 marks the 10 years since the Belgrade's B2 auditorium was built onto the original 1958 building. Over the last decade, this intimate and flexible theatre space has housed some world-class productions and nurtured some of the industry's best emerging actors and theatre-makers.

A Haunting will be staged as part of the Belgrade's B2 Anniversary Season which comprises will showcase a variety of music, drama and new writing.

A Haunting runs in the B2 Studio at the Belgrade Theatre on Weds 4 & Thurs 5 Oct. Tickets are available now priced at £13 by calling the Belgrade Box Office team on 024 7655 3055 or book online at www.belgrade.co.uk.
