Arts Council England has revealed its funding decisions, where 990 organisations would be in receipt of a share of £446 million for each of the next three years.

It had been asked by the government to take £16 million out of London each year and said that, on top of this, it had asked several London-based organisations to move out of the capital by 2026 to ensure funding.

The Donmar, which used to get more than £500,000 a year annually has had 100% of its funding cut. The Watermill Theatre in Newbury, Hampstead Theatre, The Gate Theatre in Notting Hill, the Barbican arts centre and English National Opera have also had all their funding cut.

The National Theatre has suffered a 5% cut, representing £800,000 a year. It used to get £17 million a year, but this is down to £16.2 million.

English National Opera is said to to being forced out of the capital and has reportedly been told it can receive an emergency payment to help it set up outside London. The company previously received £12 million a year.

The Royal Opera House, which received £24.7 million a year under the previous deal, will now get £22.2 million.
