Exeter Northcott Theatre to Stage New Adaptation of Harold Pinter's BETRAYAL
In February 2016 Exeter Northcott Theatre will produce a new adaptation of Harold Pinter's Betrayal which will be directed by its artistic and executive director, Paul Jepson.
Sarah-Jane Potts (Sugar Rush, GracePoint, Kinky Boots) is the first of the cast to be announced and will play the role of Emma.Betrayal begins at the end of the affair, and pursues an enthralling journey to its very beginnings. As memory reels backwards towards the moment the affair started, the lies tangle into a web of deception. Is Emma betraying her husband? Is Jerry betraying his best friend? Or are they all betraying themselves.
Of the countless eternal love triangles written for the stage, few have matched Harold Pinter's gripping depiction of infidelity - as intricate as a spy novel with its cross and double cross.
Smart, darkly funny and full of yearning, Betrayal is one of Pinter's most accessible and riveting plays and willl mark artistic director Paul Jepson's directorial debut for the Exeter Northcott Theatre.
He said "Betrayal is a fabulous play. Funny, touching and incredibly balanced. A play about people breaking out and having what they want and then finding out they still aren't happy."Betrayal will play at Exeter Northcott Theatre from Thurs 18 February - Sat 5 March 2016.
