Downland Productions Presents FLOWERS OF THE FIELD, Now thru 13 July

Autumn,1916. A young man arrives at a remote Sussex farm seeking a secret - the forgotten music of rural England, and a glimpse of a lost Arcadia. He finds instead a quiet struggle for life and love that echoes the timeless stories of the very songs he is seeking.

Flowers of the Field is a dark romance that explores the cultural and political impulses behind the movement to rediscover England's lost folk music, at a time of war and growing industrialisation.

Kevin Mandry is a freelance writer whose theatrical productions and commissions include The Tricycle Theatre, Bristol Old Vic, Orange Tree, Young Exchange, Churchill and Birds Nest Theatres and BBC R4.

Directed by David Cottis whose many credits at the White Bear include It's All True (Time out Critics' Choice) and the award-winning Silent Partners.
