Darlington Hippodrome Announces Community Cast For Ballet

Multi-award winning dance company balletLORENT have cast 5 local 70+ people to take part in its latest fairytale show at Darlington Hippodrome.

Following an informal workshop held at the theatre, five young at heart members of the local community aged between 73 and 80 years have been chosen by balletLORENT to be part of the cast of Rumpelstiltskin which will take place at Darlington Hippodrome on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 September. The production will include professional dancers from balletLORENT as well as community performers aged between 4 and 80.

Full of action and humour this emotionally rich fairytale is set in a rural world of sheep, straw, wool and spinning where the alchemist, Rumpelstiltskin is outcast until he is revealed to be "the true prince that he was".

With a score by Doctor Who composer Murray Gold, costumes designed by Michele Clapton (Game of Thrones), narration by actor Ben Crompton, set design by Phil Eddolls, and lighting design by Malcolm Rippeth and Michael Morgan, this is dance theatre for 21st century family audiences.

Rumpelstiltskin runs at Darlington Hippodrome on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 September.
