The second World Premiere in The c*ckTavern Theatre's Tennessee Williams 100th Birthday celebration season, A CAVALIER FOR MILADY, opens on 1 April.

Williams is renowned for the naked transparency of his writing, this as-yet-unperformed play proffers a final, poignant glimpse from beyond the grave into the mind of a tortured genius.

Following the critically acclaimed World Premiere of I NEVER GET DRESSED TILL AFTER DARK ON SUNDAYS (performing until March 26), Jermyn Street Theatre's Artistic Director, Gene David Kirk, makes his directorial debut at the tiny North London powerhouse venue. Gene experienced critical acclaim last November when he directed the first ever successful production of Williams' THE TWO-CHARACTER
PLAY.

One of Williams' final written works (probably completed in 1979), A CAVALIER FOR MILADY is an outrageous and disturbing snapshot into the life of a young, troubled woman who spends her life dressed in children's clothes, emotionally deprived, heavily medicated and sequestered from society. While her bombastic and hedonistic mother spends her evenings revelling in flamboyant sexual trysts with male escorts, Nance plays out her sexual fantasies with the balletic apparition of Vaslav Nijinsky. A CAVALIER FOR MILADY is a final portrait of Williams' mother, sister and himself, and remains the only published yet unproduced one-act play of his oeuvre.

The c*ckTavern Theatre continues its commitment to producing the works of crucial playwrights as with our 2010 Edward Bond retrospective season and revival of Howard Barker's Judith. Formed in January 2009, under the artistic leadership of Adam Spreadbury-Maher, The Cock Tavern Theatre established itself at the forefront of the London Fringe within its first year by winning the prestigious 'Dan Crawford Pub Theatre Award' at the Peter Brook Empty Space Awards 2009. The c*ckTavern Theatre has staged crucial revivals by Nick Ward, Adrian Pagan, Stephen Fry and Jon Fosse. In 2010 Adam Spreadbury-Maher was awarded 'Best Artistic Director' at the Fringe Report Awards. The c*ckTavern Theatre is the birthplace of Lawrence Olivier Award-nominated La Bohème, winner of 'Best Off-West End Production' (What's On Stage Awards 2011).
