Choreographers Catarina Carvalho (Wayne McGregor | Random Dance) and Nina Kov (Place Prize 2012) have been working together on a new duet piece called Vuong 10 (to be premiered in December) along with a collective of talented artists including Michael-John Harper (Wayne McGregor | Random Dance) plus the composing duo Leafcutter John (Polar Bear) and Max Baillie (Aurora Orchestra).

Vuong 10 is growing out of a short performance curated by Wayne McGregor at Kings Place September 2013. Vuong 10 has been awarded Grants for the Arts funding for a research and development phase. During this phase the company is also offering a professional development opportunity for dancers/choreographers.

This August, for the first time in their long collaboration, Nina and Catarina are going to share their working methods and the outcomes of their research during a 3-day intensive workshop, as part of our commitment made for our Art Council research and development grant.

They will come together to lead a 3-day intensive at the Deptford Lounge, in conjunction with the new dance platform Into/Out Of.

Vuong 10 explores the resilience of touch and physical communication in the digital age. Using sensorial exploration of the body as a starting point, participants will be guided through improvised tasks, exploring the thinking and techniques behind the work and refining improvisational skills. Each participant will have the opportunity to devise a solo and perform it at a public show as the conclusion of the workshop, which will be professionally filmed for the participant's use. A place to make, think and play, explore a novel mode of performance based on shared intimacy with the viewer, and gain insight into the artists' practice. Suitable for both professional dancers and advanced dance students.

Into/Out Of - Developing a platform for dance with the Deptford Lounge in SE London through an exchange of space and support for skills. Bringing making and performance into & out of spaces, engaging people and place. To be informed, involved or submit a proposal, please contact: tom@goodeveningarts.co.uk
