Birmingham Royal Ballet Announce World Ballet Day Programme

Birmingham Royal Ballet has announced the Company's programme for this year's #WorldBalletDay 2021 which will take place on 19 October. This year will be the eighth annual World Ballet Day, with 50 dance companies from around the globe joining forces in a world-wide celebration of dance.

The Company will be running four different streams throughout the day for audiences worldwide in Australia, Japan, the UK and the Americas. Highlights will include streamed performances of Burning Building, a dance film by Javier De Frutos, featuring Company dancers Sofia Liñares and Shuailun Wu, and Freefall Dance Company's Stepping Up, Stepping Out which was created during lockdown via zoom, interviews and rehearsals with dancers, and a first look at the Company's future digital offerings.

Director of Birmingham Royal Ballet, Carlos Acosta said: "We're so pleased to be able to share our programme for this year's World Ballet Day and look forward to celebrating our art form with ballet fans around the world. I hope audiences are able to join us and enjoy all that Birmingham Royal Ballet has to offer".
