Birmingham Repertory Theatre is off to Narnia this Christmas with a magical adaptation of C. S. Lewis's much-loved novel, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe from 20 November to 16 January.

When Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy stumble upon an enchanted wardrobe in an old country mansion, they discover that it's a gateway to another world. A world where animals speak and mythical creatures roam. A magical world called Narnia.

The four embark on a fantastic adventure but soon realise that something is very wrong in Narnia. The wicked White Witch has cast a spell bringing about an eternal winter. Now the children must find the courage within themselves to break the spell and reinstate Narnia's rightful ruler, Aslan the lion, to his throne.

The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe is a timeless classic that children cherish and adults adore. This brand new production promises all of the thrills and excitement expected from such an enduring festive epic and is directed by Tessa Walker, Associate Director at The REP, who previously directed The REP's much-loved 2013 Christmas show, A Christmas Carol.

Tessa Walker, says of the show: "I'm thrilled we are heading to Narnia this Christmas. The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe is a classic story that touches young and old and this vivid stage adaptation will bring a little bit of magic to the winter season. Combining a sense of adventure, humour and thrilling fights with some amazing theatrical tricks and wonderful magical puppets, we hope to capture everyone's imagination and allow a whole new generation to experience C. S. Lewis's timeless story."

Leading the ensemble cast are Michael Lanni, Leonie Elliott, James Thackeray and Emilie Fleming as Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy. Playing the White Witch is Allison McKenzie and bringing Aslan to life is Nuno Silva. Thomas Aldridge and Sophia Nomvete play Mr and Mr Beaver and Jo Servi will play the delightful Mr Tumnus. The cast also includes David Albury, Charles Armstrong, Danielle Bird, James Charlton and Emily Goodenough.

Jamie Vartan's breath-taking set brings the fantastical and ice cold wonderland of Narnia to The REP's stage, creating a truly magical backdrop for the children's adventures through the wardrobe. Creating the movement for Narnia is movement director Polly Bennett and completing the creative team for this C. S. Lewis classic is Colin Grenfell as Lighting Designer, Emma Laxton as Sound Designer and Neil MacDonald as Musical Director. Puppets will be created by Mervyn Millar and Jo Larkin.
