Birmingham Hippodrome Theatre to Host 'Tweet Seats'

By:

In what is thought to be a first for a West Midlands theatre, Birmingham Hippodrome has announced that on the evening of Tuesday 28 October the venue will host its first ever 'Tweet Seats'. The selected 'Tweeters' will be tweeting during the performance of Brazilian dance company, Grupo Corpo from a specially designated area of the auditorium.

Providing updates throughout the duration of the performance, the venue will be sharing the immediate thoughts and comments of the participants as they see the show live in front of their eyes.

Brazil's internationally acclaimed dance company, Grupo Corpo combine the precision of classic ballet with the passion of Latin dance rhythms in a performance bursting with life and colour. The 22 dancers fill the stage with elegant, virtuosic and joyful dance which has audiences in raptures.

Press & PR Assistant, Ben Wooldridge said "We are very excited to be trying out Tweet Seats for the very first time here at the theatre. The great thing about this idea is that spectators can share their thoughts and reactions as the show happens without having to wait until curtain down."

Ben added "Our Tweet Seat representatives include Birmingham's What's On Magazine (@whatsonbrum), city newsletter IChoose Birmingham (@ICHOOSEmag) and Heart FM's Steve Denyer (@steve_denyer). Twitter audiences are encouraged to join in the conversation using the hashtag #BHgrupo."

Tweet Seat members will be sat in a specially designated area of the auditorium which will not affect other audience members enjoyment of the production. They will also be provided with light-limiting Tweet Seat Boxes to eliminate any light in the auditorium from mobile devices. Other than those invited and sat in the specific area of the auditorium, the remainder of the audience are asked to observe the standard theatre policy of strictly no use of mobile phones during the performance.

Grupo Corpo plays at Birmingham Hippodrome Tuesday 28 & Wednesday 29 October 2014. Tickets: £10-£22.50, Performance Times: 7.30pm. Call 0844 338 5000 or visit birminghamhippodrome.com. Calls from 5p per min, 5% fee applies, postage from £1. Prices and discounting subject to change.
