Baltimore TheatreWorks' 41N 50W to Make UK Premiere at Southampton's SeaCity Museum, April 10-19

After an initial workshop showcase at the new St. James Theatre in London and recent reading at Ken Davenport Studios in New York, which featured Tony Award nominated actress Anita Gillette, 41N 50W makes a 10 performance UK premiere at Southampton's SeaCity Museum. This new play written by Robert Neal Marshall and produced by Baltimore TheatreWorks is being presented within walking distance from where TITANIC set sail in 1912. Performances run April 10th - 19th at 7:30pm. A special opening night event will celebrate SeaCity museum's 2nd birthday with a portion of the evening's proceeds donated to a maritime charity. The April 14th performance will be followed by a memorial service in remembrance of souls lost on TITANIC. The British Titanic Society will also host an invited performance of the play as part of their 2014 Convention.

41N 50W refers to the last reported position of TITANIC. The legacy of this magnificent ship has endured over the past 102 years with recognizable stories of sacrifice and human tragedy. Audience members experience the actual words spoken by stunned TITANIC survivors and closely connected witnesses during the 1912 US Senate Hearings held just days after the White Star Liner Liner sank. These true testimonies paint a chilling image of unfolding events surrounding the disaster. We see the pieces of a puzzle come together as those involved desperately try to find out the truth and struggle to take action.

SeaCity museum is home to a permanent TITANIC exhibit built inside the old Southampton City Hall. 41N 50W will be presented within one of the original courtrooms, adding a special interactive ambiance of the play. Seating offers the option of general admission, or premium "First Class White Star" leather chairs in the original jury box or Magistrate's desk with an elevated view of the action.

Baltimore TheatreWorks is a non profit organization co-founded by actress/singer/comedian Rain Pryor (daughter of the late comedian Richard Pryor) and teaching artist Joan Weber whose mission is to increase theatre performance opportunities for students in grades 6-12 in Baltimore City.
