April Sees The Albany Theatre Host Its Biggest, Most Ambitious Shows To Date ImageThe beautiful Art Deco gem in the heart of Coventry, The Albany Theatre, launches into their April programme with more than a spring in their step...!

April boasts a couple of firsts for the theatre - the biggest show to grace the stage and a four-night run of an Off-Broadway hit.

First up is The Embroidery Girl, a spectacular international dance drama that has been wowing audiences across the world. With an epic love story at its heart, the production combines dance, music and humour to transport audiences East-wards in a romantic and exotic tale rooted in Chinese culture. The show runs from Thursday 5 - Saturday 7 April at 7.30pm with tickets from £15

Forever Dusty is the high-energy, Off-Broadway hit musical telling the story of iconic 60s legend, Dusty Springfield - one of the most influential and important female singers in pop history. Featuring a memorable soundtrack, the show addresses all the joy and sadness of Dusty's remarkable life and includes classic hits such as Son of a Preacher Man, The Look of Love and I Only Wanna be with You. The show runs from Wednesday 25 - Saturday 28 April with matinee and evening performances. Tickets are from £16.

And the April fun doesn't stop there... there's a shower of music, dance and comedy on offer: Strictly star, Giovanni Pernice hot-foots across The Albany stage with the premiere of his new show Born to Win, twice National Tribute Award-winner, Paul Grant-Reason pays homage to the life and work of George Michael in Beyond Faith and the cherished, golden tones of Test Match Cricket, Henry Blofeld celebrates his retirement in an hilarious and intimate evening telling stories and unheard anecdotes from on and off the pitch.

The theatre also has a new entrance and box office: with the new studio now in action, the theatre can be accessed directly from Albany Road and audiences are welcomed into the large, spacious environment of what was once the dilapidated, unused East Wing area of the iconic Coventry building. The recently-refurbished space houses the open-plan box office and work zone with plans for a café and gallery coming soon.

For more details about the theatre and all other shows and events at The Albany, take a look at the website for information and booking - www.albanytheatre.co.uk. Tickets can be purchased from the box office on 02476 99 89 64 or in person 10.30am to 1.30pm from Monday to Friday - plans are to extend these hours as soon as the new box office has been established.
